DBKL To Start Demolishing Illegal Extensions In City - Tengku Adnan

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will start demolishing illegal extensions in shops or houses, starting next month.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said DBKL would issue notices as well as advertise in local dailies, to notify owners of the exercise.

"The operation will be held throughout the city. Owners must submit an application to carry out any extensions to their premises. They can do it online (internet) or come to the DBKL office," he told reporters after a dialogue session with owners and beneficiaries regarding their land in Kampung Baru, here, today.

He added that there have been cases whereby owners rent their premises to foreigners and these foreigners start to carry out extensive extensions.

"Through our surveys, we have come across many buildings with illegal extensions or renovation," he said adding that such extensions were common in Cheras, Seputeh, Kepong, Taman OUG, Keramat and Kampung Baru.
